About Josh Fairbairn

I'm Josh Fairbairn, also known as Joshua Fairbairn. I'm the founder of MorphoMFG and a co-founder of écoute audio. I work on physical products, manufacturing and building brands in China.

Building products since 2014

I founded MorphoMFG in 2014. We help founders develop physical products and bring them into production through specialist partner factories in China. My work connects product design with the practical decisions that make something possible to manufacture.

That means thinking about components, suppliers, quality and production while a product is still being developed. Morpho coordinates the work across specialist partner manufacturers.

Building brands of my own

After years of helping other people build products, I began building brands of my own. With my co-founder Kendal, I built écoute audio: over-ear headphones with a real vacuum-tube preamp and dual-mono amplification. The idea is rack-system hi-fi you can wear.

RingGauge takes that product-building mindset into software. It's a market-intelligence platform for Cuban cigar collectors, bringing retail and auction pricing into a clearer view.

What I share

I write about developing products, working with manufacturers and building a business around something real. I also create Mandarin content under the name 老范 (Lao Fan).

The goal is to shorten the distance between an idea and a product people can actually use. See my projects, read Josh's Letter, or connect on LinkedIn.
